Baker linked to Lucchese Family Hit sentence is overturned
For the second time now the conviction of mob linked baker Mario Fortunato has been overturned. In 2008 Fortunato was convicted of helping in the murder of a Lucchese Crime Family member. The Lucchese family loanshark was killed at a Williamsburgh social club back in 1994. Fortunato was linked to the killing as well as association to the Lucchese family.
Friday an appellate court for the second time around decided that the conviction would not stick and ruled to over turn the 2008 verdict. Fortunato lawyer Paul Shechtman was quoted as saying ” There will be no further prosecution , The game is Over” !
Fortunato was said to have stopped by to get a haircut at his usual local barber and then returned to the bakery which is owned and run by him and his brothers. It’s a happy day for the Fortunato brothers said Shechtman. The Fed’s lost out on this conviction on multiple occasions so its unknown if they will once again attempt to investigate the Fortunato involvement in the murder case or his involvement in the Lucchese Crime Family.
