Colombo Family Capo Calabro turns Rat

Colombo crime family capo Dino Calabro known as “Big Dino” has turned rat. Calabro has agreed to become a witness for the Fed’s after being tagged for a hit on a NYPD officer. Calabro was accused of killing Ralph Dols a cop in NY because the cop had married the ex-wife of a reputed gangster. Calabro was one of the shooters who reportedly shot Dols to death at his home in Sheepshead Bay.

The Calabro family has reportedly been moved out of there home and into the witness protection program by the Fed’s. The hit on Dols is suspected to have been ordered in 1997 by then Colombo Family boss Joel Cacace also known as Joe Waverly. Cacace felt like the cop had shown him disrespect by the marriage to his ex-wife kim even though Dol’s was the ladies fourth husband.

Calabro who worked with a team of other hit men to pull off the murder of Dol’s is now the second member of that team to turn informant. Earlier the alleged getaway car driver and Colombo family member Joseph Competiello also know as “Joey Caves” also turned rat in 2008 and started cooperating. Many people including the co-defendants of Calabro have felt like he was considering turning state’s evidence and cooperating as a way out of the multiple murder charges he was indicted on and could of possibly faced the death penalty at trial. Calabro had been a no show at a recent defense strategy meeting between the defendants and their lawyers saying he was not invited and when he finally showed up it was definately an awkward feel to his presence said one of the lawyers.

Neither Calabro’s lawyer Richard Jasper or the U.S. Attorneys office would comment on the situation or verify that Calabro had indeed flipped but its prettly clear now that the Dol’s case has been solidified.
